I have very fond memories of LJ. I made many friends from all over the world and I'm still in touch with a few of them today. I poured out my frustrations and angst on here because it was okay to do so - I knew my friends wouldn't judge me, only offer support and understanding.

I don't want to delete all the memories I've created here but I'm quite uncomfortable with the way I wore my heart on my sleeve so publicly. I decided to make all my previous entries private in an attempt to preserve my past without completely destroying it. There were a lot of P words in that sentence. Hmm.

I know that nobody really uses LJ anymore - and those who do probably know me in real life anyway - but here is a quick summary of what I've been doing over the past 10 years:

♥ Went to university to study English Literature in Portsmouth and graduated in 2008 with a 2:1. I wrote my dissertation on the Regency Dandy (a result of my obsessing with Georgette Heyer & the 18th Century!) and got a first for my pains - my proudest achievement!
♥ Started working as a temporary seasonal worker for Waterstones (bookshop) in Portsmouth. I ended up moving back home to my parents' house in 2009 and worked in two different branches of the same bookshop. I was eventually promoted to Assistant Manager which was pretty cool, albeit stressful.
♥ Left the bookshop because I was exhausted all the time and not having any fun. I then got a job in an office and oh my it was boring!
♥ It turned out that the reason why I was so exhausted was because I had cancer! I was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkin's Lymphoma in May 2013. That wasn't any fun at all. I had chemotherapy for six months and was given the all clear at the beginning of 2014.
♥ Summer of 2014 I moved to Dublin! My partner lives there and I figured I may as well go over for an adventure.
♥ Ended up working in administration for an accountancy training/membership institute. It was also very boring and stressful.
♥ As of next week, working in the same place, my official title is going to be Publishing Executive and I'm going to get paid to read books for a living. While Irish business, law and accountancy aren't exactly my cup of tea, it's going to be excellent experience and maybe later on in life I can read fun books for a living.

In between all of that, I've developed an obsession with board games, expanded my reading to encompass non-fiction and social issues, learnt how to cook properly, developed my photography skills and have decided to try and taste as many teas as I can before I die. I'm still grumpy, irrational and not too keen on the general public.

I suppose I migrated mostly to tumblr after LJ and I have a few blogs I run in regards to my various interests.

That's all for now - maybe I will start using my LJ again, maybe I won't post here for another two years :b
